Cancer Insurance

Why would anyone need to buy insurance to cover cancer?  After all, cancer is just another medical issue covered by both advantage plans and supplements.

Many costs associated with cancer are non-medical and/or not covered by your health plan.  Even with drug benefits the copay or coinsurance costs can be high.  Chemo may have side effects (loss of hair, lesions, etc.) and treatment may not be covered.

Depending on where you live you may want to travel for services.  Medical insurance does not pay for transportation costs.  If you are still working, you may need to take time off losing income.  If your spouse or family member needs to take care of you, they may have to limit their working hours again causing a loss of income.

Many people lose weight.  New clothes are not free.  And if you need to hire someone to help you or help around the house that costs even more money.

Cancer insurance is not expensive.  And most of the time the savings found by shopping your medical insurance (supplement or advantage) can pay for this benefit.
